After treatment, water is pumped into Oxfam water tanks and bladders strategically placed in different locations in the Mingkaman settlement. In total, Oxfam has two water treatment sites and treats approximately 700,000 litres of water a day. Residents of the camp frequent the water points with jerry cans and buckets to collect the water. Oxfam supplies several water points in Mingkaman, delivering clean, safe and free water to over 38,000 people.

Ayak Majok is from Bor. She is twenty one years old and ran to safety with her children. Her tent is right next to another water point, but she chooses to walk all the way to the Oxfam water point, more than 15 minutes away, to fetch water. ‘I have been here for one month. I came here because of the fighting. When we arrived there was no clean water. Many people got sick but we had no choice but to drink it and use it for cooking. The water I collect from the Oxfam taps is very clean; I know this because since I started collecting water from this tap, no one has fallen sick. Of course I want to go home, but will only go if there is peace.’
